Solar PV has made dramatic gains in the past decade and is clocking over 100 GW of worldwide installations year on year - an awesome number. Solar CSP (concentrating solar power) that uses the heat of sunlight to generate power has some significant advantages over solar PV especially in its ability to be a baseload source of power, but has been unable to take off as well as PV.

All these could change during the next decade, and if it does, solar CSP has as much potential as solar PV to decarbonize the power sector worldwide.
