Molten salt vs. Li-ion batteries

Storage based on molten salt is considerably cheaper compared to that in Li-ion batteries. Molten salt storage has been so far mainly explored as heat storage solution for high temperature solar thermal - typically, concentrated solar power systems, where it stores heat and releases it to run a turbine to generate power.

But one can also consider storing solar or wind power - by converting power to heat and converting heat back to power when needed.

So should the use of molten salt be considered for stationary storage applications beyond solar CSP? Somehow, we find that discussion around this topic is much less than what one would expect it to be.
