Decarbonization Avenue : Biorefinery

In fact

Potential for local, small scale biorefineries

Reading about a grass-based biorefinery in Ireland ( https://bit.ly/3D2FEOq )  that’s producing cattle and pig feed from locally grown grasses makes one think about the possibility of small-scale or medium scale biorefineries that could use local agri waste or grasses and derive bio-products that could be used locally as well. Even supply chain challenges could be handled much better for these smaller biorefineries,

While such local, small-scale biorefineries look good on paper, one of course wonders about the economics for such small scale units. It is not clear if lack of scale could affect economics, especially capital costs.
