Current CSP plants have an integrated structure which could pose challenges in maintenance and installation, while also adding to the costs. Modular CSP technology can achieve high operating temperatures and efficiency, while also enabling ease of installation and maintenance, thus reducing costs.
For instance, a modular power tower system uses factory-built heliostats, receivers and towers that are shipped to site and easily deployed, enabling rapid plant commissioning. Plants can also be designed to meet customer requirements without the risk, and significant recurring engineering, associated with non-modular designs.
