Decarbonization Avenue : Better O&M of solar power plants

The world already has about 700 GW of solar PV power plants installed worldwide, a large portion of them as utility scale power plants. These power plants are already abating about 500 million tons of CO2 every year.

By 2025, the world will have over 1 TW of solar power plants installed. Increasing the yield of this large power generation asset through better O&M practices thus presents a significant, low-hanging decarbonization potential - a 10% yield increase by 2025 could contribute close to 100 million tons of CO2 emissions savings.
