Infrared tech to analyse biorefinery feedstock

A proposed cellulosic biorefinery in Iowa, USA (https://bit.ly/3D6L6zF ) plans to use infrared technology to analyse each biomass bale as it comes into the refinery, The promoters say this analysis will help their technology process and utilize the feedstock much better than what other cellulosic biofuels efforts had done so far. Interesting idea!

We see this as a forerunner for more technologies being brought in to make biomass supply consistent and reliable. One of the challenges plaguing bio-based industries is the lack of consistent quality in the feedstock - simply because that is the way nature gives it! But industrial scale productions need raw materials with specifications within tolerabce limits!
