Copper catalyst to convert CO2 to ethylene for polymers

Currently, petroleum based ethylene is produced from steam cracking of ethane and naphtha, while renewable ethylene is produced from sugarcane or corn. Only in the last few years, CO2 has been explored as a raw material for ethylene production. For the process, electrochemical reaction using copper catalyst is considered to enhance conversion efficiency compared to other processes.
