Smithville Independent School District (ISD) granted Big Star Solar, a 1,720-acre solar project, a tax abatement under the Chapter 313 program. With the abatement, the property’s taxable value will be capped at $20 million. The facility has a planned annual generation capacity of 200 megawatts (MW) and 80 MW of battery storage.
