While both membrane separation and pressure swing absorption are both independently used for CO2 separation from biogas, efforts are also on for hybrid solutions that combine membrane permeation and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) have been developed for CO2 separation. By combining the strengths of the two-method in a synergistic and complimentary manner, the separation performance of the hybrid scheme could be significantly enhanced compared to that of the two stand-alone solutions.
