Mixed feedstock biorefining

The mixed biomass system generally involves the simultaneous utilization (processing and conversion) of two or more different biomass feedstocks in varying or equal proportions for the production of a commodity of interest rather than using a single biomass feedstock. The components may be of the same or different origin (source and supply chain), they may have similar or contrasting characteristics and they may require similar or different processing techniques for their conversion.
