Existing parabolic CSP systems use glass mirrors which are costly and heavy leading to operational challenges for large scale plants. Use of aluminium mirrors could be a cost-effective solution while enhancing energy absorption efficiency of CSP systems.
Innovations that enable the scaling up the use of aluminium parabolic mirror dishes by overcoming their challenges could significantly cut down the costs for solar CSP power plants.
