Decarbonization Avenue : C2V - CO2 to Value

In fact

Butanol from CO2

Butanol is not as well known as ethanol but it is being in a wide range of applications - in plastics, polymers, lubricants, brake fluids, solvent in cleaning products, as a flavoring agent in food & beverages, etc. Butanol, like ethanol, can also be used as a transport fuel. can be used as a source of fuel. As an environmentally friendly and powerful solvent for cleaning and polishing products.

A team of researchers from the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea has developed a process that directly generates 1-butanol from CO2 via the electrochemical reduction reaction with the help of copper phosphide without first undergoing CO dimerization.
